Dear Members and Colleagues,

Medical microbiology has come a long way in the recent past from the fringes to the forefront of clinical medicine and hospital infection control. The last couple of decades has seen a surge in the development of various advanced techniques designed specifically for the prompt and accurate detection of the agents of infectious diseases.

Yet the collaboration with clinicians and interfacing of laboratory results with clinical management needs to be further enhanced.

The need of the hour is a synergistic approach with the clinicians for early diagnosis and effective use of antimicrobials resulting in optimum patient management. The microbiologist must therefore, emerge from within the confines of the laboratory and move to the epicentre of patient care.

TRANSLATIONAL MICROBIOLOGY is a multi disciplinary integration bridging the gap between laboratory and clinical medicine, thus resulting in improved patient outcomes using a "BENCH TO BEDSIDE" approach and certainly even beyond.

The 2nd Annual State Conference of Chhattisgarh - CG MICROCON 2018 is an endeavour to bring together people from all medical specialities and thus redefine the micro-clinical boundaries......
